Trip Insurance
Occasionally, our Adventurers must cancel their trips due to unforeseen reasons. We strongly recommend buying insurance. Trip insurance insures your trip against illness or injury involving yourself or a travel companion. Having to cancel a trip can be costly, but not if you have trip insurance….
Besides illness and injury, trip insurance also covers unexpected travel interruptions and delays that could cause you to miss your trip departure. Another covered claim is death or hospitalization of a family member. Trip Insurance also provides full medical coverage in the event of an accident or illness incurred while traveling.
When you book with Equipped Outdoors, we accumulate many non-refundable expenses, therefore we have a cancelation policy. If you must cancel your trip, the loss of funds can become significant and result in forfeiture of your entire trip cost. Most travel insurance claims happen within a week of trip departure, for this reason we recommend buying trip insurance.
TRAVEL SE
For trips under 9,000 feet, we recommend the TRAVEL SE. This is the most common for Equipped Outdoors Arkansas trips as it includes trip cancellation protection in addition to medical and emergency evacuation benefits. This is NOT A CANCEL FOR ANY REASON PRODUCT.
TRAVEL LX
For trips that are over 9,000 feet such as CO and WY trips, we recommend the TRAVEL LX (Notice, if you have a US major medical insurance policy, such as through your employer, most likely your current policy would cover a medical emergency over 9,000 feet, so the Travel SE would probably suffice). The TRAVEL LX policy also includes a CANCEL FOR ANY REASON. To be elibible, you must purchase the policy within 20 days of initial trip payment, insure 100% of your prepaid trip costs and cancel 2 or more days prior to departure. A CANCEL FOR ANY REASON CLAIM only reimburses a maximum of 75% of the total trip costs.
NOTICE: You can simply buy insurance for the cost of your tour. Or, you can insure your Air, Hotel, and Tour costs. Insuring your entire trip is advised.
Most Common Claims
Sickness/Covid or injury prior to trip for you or your travel companion(s)
Missed connecting flight and last-minute airline cancellations
Hospitalization or death of a grandparent, elderly parent, or immediate family member
Job relocation / loss, or revocation of approved time off
Jury Duty
Documented Traffic Accident
Trip destination becomes inhabitable from a natural disaster
Also, injuries or medical emergencies that happen during a hike are extremely rare, but they are also a covered claim.
Important Note for travelers with pre-existing medical conditions. You can obtain a full waiver of pre-existing conditions by purchasing Trip insurance in a timely manner:
TRAVEL SE should be purchased within 20 days of your initial payment or deposit.
Travel LX should be purchased no later than 24-hours of your final deposit.
